Etien Frett, MSc, PE

Etien has over 18 years of professional experience in the and civil and construction industries. He obtained his BSc in Architectural Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1993 and his MSc in Civil Engineering (Structures) from California State University–Fullerton in 2005. His research was titled “Utilizing Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) to Strengthen Continuous Span Un-Bonded Post-Tension Concrete T-Beams”. Etien worked as a technical services manager and a senior sales engineer with Sika Corporation. His responsibilities included performing technical presentations and educational workshops for engineers and architects, providing job site inspections and field tests to evaluate concrete defects and recommend appropriate structural concrete repair, strengthening and protection systems. In 2003 and 2005 Etien was awarded with the National Sales Excellence Award by Sika Corporation for his sales achievement within his territory.

In 2010, Etien joined BASF as a technical sales specialist for the parking and restoration market segments Mr. Frett is a licensed Professional Civil Engineering (P.E.) with the State of California and the United States Virgin Islands. He is an active member of the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) and participates regularly with the local chapters of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC).

Hossam Kassab, LEED AP

Hossam holds a BSc in mechanical engineering and many years of experience. He is the Chief Operation Engineer of Engineering Maintenance Solutions (EMS) which is a leader in Energy Management. Mr. Kassab is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM). He is engaged with the federal facility renewable energy and sustainable green building program.

Jan Lepicovsky, AIA, LEED AP

Jan is a Principal with Hummingbird Design. He obtained a Master of Architecture, Architecture / Urban Design at the University of Oregon. He is specialized in Architectural planning design, building envelope, and sustainability with a focus on multi-family, institutional, high-rise, and adaptive re-use projects. Mr. Lepicovsky has over 12 years of practical experience.

Jose Ruiz, MS, PE

Mr. Jose Ruiz is an engineer with the Englekirk Companies. He obtained his BS from the University of Mexico, Mexico City, and his MS from University of Canterbury, New Zealand. He has over 5 year of experience in seismic practice and design of steel, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry in the State of California.

Mohamed Hassan, PhD, SE, LEED AP

Dr. Mohamed Hassan holds a doctoral degree in structural engineering and is a licensed Structural Engineer in the State of California.

Maher M. Zein, PhD, PE

Dr. Zein is an environmental engineer at ARCADIS US, Inc. in Irvine, California. He received a Bachelor Degree in Biology and a Master Degree in Environmental Engineering from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and a Doctorate in Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He has over 8 years of experience in environmental engineering research and consulting pertaining to multi-media and multi-contaminant site investigation and remediation. He published several manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals such as Environmental Science and Technology, Biodegradation, Water Environment Research, Chemosphere, and Environmental Management and Health and is a peer reviewer for several journals including ASCE Journal of Environmental Engineering, Water Environment Research, and the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association.

Nagi Abo-Shadi, PhD, SE

Dr. Nagi Abo-Shadi has 30 years of design and teaching experience of reinforced concrete, steel structures, masonry and wood structures. He is a licensed Structural Engineer in the State of California, the State of Nevada and the State of Michigan.

Philip G. Mihopoulos, PhD, PE, BCEE

Dr. Mihopoulos is Principal Engineer with MACTEC Engineering and Consulting in Irvine, CA. He holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from University of Patras, Greece, and a PhD in Environmental Engineering from University of Cincinnati. He has over 10 years of professional experience specializing in remediation of hazardous waste, is a certified board member of the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and is a reviewer for a number of Journals, including Journal of Environmental Engineering ASCE, Journal of Contaminant Hydrology, and Bioremediation Journal.

Siva Sivathasan, PhD, PE, GE

Dr. Sivathasan has over eleven years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering Design and Construction and related teaching. He obtained his Ph. D. from the University of California at Davis in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering. He has been working for Leighton Group as a registered geotechnical engineer in California and teaching on part-time basis at Calpoly Pomona, Cal State Northridge and University of California, Irvine. He also taught classes at University of California at Davis.

Tarek K. Gadd, MSEE, PE

Mr. Gadd is a registered electrical engineer with the State of California. He holds a masters degree in Electrical Engineering from CSU Long Beach. He is currently employed with Operation Technology Inc. His combined experiences involve troubleshooting electric power circuit failures throughout Southern California and analyzing power systems. Also, he has taught classes locally and internationally.
